Making the Transition

How do you know you have crossed over from a sysadmin to a network admin?

When you log on to a Linux server and type “en.”

There is a story here. I used to login to a router or switch and immediately type “ls” or “uptime.” It would drive me crazy when I would get this dreaded error:
DSW1#ls
Translating “ls”…domain server (255.255.255.255)

And then I would invariably configure:
no ip domain-lookup
Or:
ip ospf name-lookup
ip name-server 192.168.100.64
ip name-server 192.168.100.65

Now when I rarely type “ls” when I log into a router but often type “en” when I log into a server.
